Fri 25 Aug | 10.30am - 4.30pm | free

Ruby works from her garden studio in Gowerton, where she takes inspiration from the coastline of South Wales. Geometric shapes with contemporary clean lines are formed by hand from porcelain and paired with fine metals. The beauty of the experience of colour, light and reflection is expressed through glaze and gold lustre, which leaves a striking 24ct gold and white gold surface reminiscent of coastal horizons and reflections in water.

Ruby studied BA Hons Visual Art and PGCE Art and Design, and has been a secondary school art teacher for 20 years. This year, Ruby has made the brave decision to finish teaching to concentrate more on her own work. She has lots of plans for new designs, running workshops and supplying more work to galleries and shops. During the day, visitors can take partin a Workshop making a ‘ceramic pendant imprinting textures’.
