Anna Noel & Sarah Noel
Lower Hareslade Farm, Brandy Cove, Bishopston, SA3 3DT
Sat 7 & Sun 8 July | 2pm - 4pm | free
(other times by appointment)
The Noel sisters’ hand-made sculptural ceramics are shown in galleries nationwide.
Anna’s delightful three-dimensional animal sculptures reflect her interest in mythology and folklore, and reveal elements of mankind’s relationship with the animal kingdom. Anna works spontaneously with a combination of slabs, coils and incised and applied decoration, using either a high earthenware dry finish using slips and oxides, or a combination of oxides and earthenware glazes.
Sarah makes figurative, stylised three-dimensional ceramic sculptures, wall pieces and panels. They are earthenware red, some high- red with coloured stains and oxides, to achieve a dry nish. Sarah’s work expresses the human condition through a simple spirituality. She has been influenced by medieval art forms, and European and American folk art.
Lower Hareslade Farm is located about 500 yards down an unmade road, which may not be suitable for some vehicles. Visitors might prefer to park on Brandy Cove Road and walk down.
